Hard Disk Sentinel 1.00.5

Hard Disk health, performance and temperature monitoring tool. By using the DOS edition of Hard Disk Sentinel, it is possible to examine the temperature and health information (and more) of IDE and S-ATA hard disks connected to motherboard or external controller cards and modify acoustic level of such disks.

Features:

  • detected hard disk controllers and their vendor and device IDs. Each device has an associated number.
  • size, model ID, serial number, revision of all IDE/S-ATA hard disks connected to the motherboard or these devices.
  • temperature, health and performance values.
  • power on time (days, hour, minutes - if supported).
  • the controller device or channel and device location.
  • detects and displays information about disks connected to AHCI controllers.
  • optionally the acoustic level for each disks if /AAM switch is used.
  • optionally the complete S.M.A.R.T. details if /SMART switch is used.
  • displays full hard disk text description with errors and disk issues found.
  • immediately displays highest temperature ever measured by the hard disk.

HDAT2 4.53

The main function is test and repair (regenerates) bad sectors for detected devices.

Features:

  • fully implemented commands: SET MAX, SET SECURITY, Device Configuration Overlay (DCO)
  • device access with interrupt 13h, direct via ATA ports, with ASPI drivers
  • detects ATA/ATAPI/SATA devices with on-board and add-on controllers
  • detects devices on AHCI/RAID controllers (just only on ports 0-3)
  • detects USB devices via USB ASPI driver or BIOS (if supported)
  • detects SCSI hard drives via BIOS interrupt 13h or ASPI drivers
  • other SCSI devices are detected via ASPI drivers only (must be loaded before); with ASPI drivers you will get more information about SCSI devices
  • test and repair device for bad sectors (so far version 4.5.3 only)
  • many different test-functions for hard drives
  • resize hard drives which supports SET MAX ADDRESS/EXT (supports 28/48-bits LBA addressing modes)
  • drive lock detection via security feature (Security Menu)
  • S.M.A.R.T. functions for ATA/SATA and SCSI drives only
  • information about devices (ATA/ATAPI, BIOS interrupt 13h, ASPI, EDD)
  • sector viewer for devices (also for USB, ZIP, CD-data discs)
  • to access ATA/SATA CD/DVD drive you don't need any driver or MSCDEX
  • enable/disable some features for direct-access devices
  • Device Configuration Overlay (DCO) feature set (you can restore a full capacity or allow/disallow some feature sets of hard drive)

HDD Erase 4.0

Secure erase using a special feature built into most newer hard drives. This is a DOS-based utility that securely erases "sanitizes" all data on ATA hard disk drives in Intel architecture computers (PCs). It offers the option to run the drive internal secure erase command, security erase unit, based on the ATA specification by the T13 technical committee.

IBM Hitachi Feature Tool 2.15

The Feature Tool is a DOS-bootable tool for changing various ATA features. It can modify certain features of our Deskstar and Travelstar high-performance ATA hard disk drives and supports 48-bit addressing for new, large-capacity drives. It allows you to control some of the features of the the HDD.

Maxtor AMSet utility 4.0

Utility for changing Acoustic Management on the hard drives. The AMSET.EXE utility enables, disables, and sets levels for the Acoustic Management (operating sound levels) for the following hard drive Families (and newer):

  • DiamondMax 60
  • DiamondMax VL 30
  • DiamondMax Plus 40 UDMA/100
  • DiamondMax 60 UDMA/100
  • DiamondMax VL 30 UDMA/100

Acoustic Management adjusts the speed of the head seeks, reducing the ambient sound level during the normal operation of Maxtor hard drives. This does not affect sound levels for power on operations. The performance of the drive is affected when Acoustic Management is enabled.

Maxtor PowerMax 4.23

The POWERMAX.EXE utility performs diagnostic read/write verifications on Maxtor/Quantum hard drives. These tests will confirm hard drive integrity. Maxtor recommends this utility for troubleshooting any potential hard drive problem. These problems include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Potential hard drive surface problems (e.g., bad clusters, bad sectors, partitioning/formatting problems, etc.).
  • Drive recognition problems (e.g. hard drive that is not recognized by the operating system).
  • Data removal for security purposes or software corruption.

Maxtor recommends that you run PowerMax on all hard drives to perform diagnostic read/write verifications before considering warranty replacement.
